Not veterinary advice. Our guides are research-based and for general information. Always follow your veterinarian's or surgeon's instructions for your dog.

How we research our guides

How SturdyPaws researches senior dog mobility products: the sources we use, what we do not do, and how affiliate links fit in.

SturdyPaws guides are research-based, not hands-on product tests. We have not personally tested every product we mention, and we say so in each guide.

Sources we use

  • Manufacturer specifications: length, width, weight rating, materials and sizing charts from the maker's own pages and manuals.
  • Retailer listings: current prices, available sizes and the questions owners commonly raise. Prices change often, so we mark them as approximate.
  • Published veterinary information: guidance from veterinary hospitals, surgery and neurology practices and rehabilitation services, which we cite at the end of each guide.

How we choose what to recommend

We start from the dog and the situation (car type, dog weight, condition such as arthritis, IVDD or recovery after TPLO) and compare products on the numbers that matter for that situation, such as ramp length versus height, width, weight rating and surface grip. When a detail cannot be confirmed from a primary source, we flag it as approximate.

What we do not do

  • We do not claim veterinary credentials. Our guides are not veterinary advice; your vet knows your dog.
  • We do not invent test results, star ratings or reviews.
  • We do not accept payment for placement. We earn a commission on some purchases through Amazon links, which never changes what we recommend. See our affiliate disclosure.
